FAQs

Q?

Will my kid have to try out to join the team?

A.

Track and field is no cut sport.  All students are welcome and encouraged to come out.  Track and field is one of the most competitive sports at Fort Collins High School and has the most conference and state championships in the state.  Every athlete will be given the opportunity to compete at the JV or varsity levels.  Athletes must earn a position to be on varsity and Coaches select the best athletes for each position based on which athlete runs the fastest, throws the farthest, and jumps the longest/highest.

Q?

What’s the cost for my child to participate in track and field as a lambkin?

A.

There is an athletic fee of $100 to participate paid to the school, plus the cost of good running shoes. We offer used spikes donated by former athletes if you would like to borrow a pair. Otherwise you can also invest in some running or jumping spikes. We work with Runners Roost and Altitude Running who offer discounts to FCHS track and field athletes.
