Back-to-back Shot Put State Champion!

Throwers delight Jake Hanks was a two time shot put Colorado State Champion in 2012 and 2013.  He broke our school record with a throw of 60’4.5” at the John Martin Invite, and was a team captain in 2013.

Hanks was the recipient of our Larry Girmann Memorial award in 2013. The coaches voted for him because he was one of our most explosive athletes we had ever watched and coached. He dominated the shot put in Colorado, and went undefeated in 2012 and 2013.  He started throwing as a sophomore, and came out of nowhere to place 2nd at the state meet and threw a 4 foot PR. He was a 4-year letter winner, he was a two time 1st team all conference athlete, he was a two time individual state champion. Although his track career ended in high school, he will continue to shine as a football at University of Tulsa.  Hanks was a pleasure to coach and have around every day at practice.  He is an athlete who will truly be missed.
